Historic reform to our broken health care system took a giant step forward today when the U.S. House of Representatives introduced legislation that would make quality health care affordable for all Americans.
“I think most Americans agree that affordability is the answer to any health insurance reform,” said Charles A. Kabbash, owner of Kabbash Business Brokerage, “this bill is exactly what true health care reform should look like.”
A second-generation American, Kabbash is one of many small-business owners in Virginia who support the House bill because it levels the playing field for small businesses by providing access to large-group rates in the new Health Insurance Exchange. By lowering administrative costs, it enables small businesses to offer a larger choice of plans to their employees. The legislation provides tax credits to assist small employers who want to offer coverage for their workers, but cannot currently afford to do so.
The Affordable Healthcare for America Act contains essential provisions that promote access and affordability to quality health care for all Americans. By including a public health insurance option, the House has set a standard for affordability that will drive down premium costs by promoting competition in the health insurance market. As a result, millions of Americans will have peace of mind that quality, affordable coverage will be there – no matter what happens.
“My family and I have worked hard to be successful, but I’ve always believed that success shouldn’t have any bearing on your access to good health care,” said Kabbash.
“It’s my strong conviction that health care is a right. I’ve always thought health care needs a robust public option. It makes the process of getting quality health care affordable for Virginians. I think it’s important for my Congressman to vote for this bill. Hopefully Virginia’s Senators will follow and pass a bill that makes health care affordable for all of us.”
